Göteborg

We visited Göteborg or Gothenburg it is in English for the Nordic Organic Conference. On Sunday afternoon we had time to promenade in the city which actually has quite a nice atmosphere. Göteborg was originally built in the 17th century by the Dutch who were invited in because of their skills to build on coastal wetlands. So the old central area does have some canals.

But after walking for a while I was struck by the several woman-statues - in most cases naked. Already when taking the pictures I realized how I could get a lot of new hits to my photo blog. "Naked Swedish ladies in Gothenburg" was bound to get a lot of hits. The two first ladies are found in the very nice park of "Trädgårdsföreningen" i.e. the Gothenburg association of gardeners. Personally I like the second one best.

The first one is "Våren" or Spring by Gunnar Nilsson.

The second is "Dimman" by Gustav Lindberg.

The third lady sits in a pond in the beautiful glasshouse that was built in the Trädgårdsföreningen in the 19th century. This is Tummelisa by Stig Blomberg.

The fourth lady is in the park that continues west from Trädgårdföreningen. This is "Flickan och sjötrollen" (Girl and sea troll) by Ivar Johnsson

My other aim was to accompany the ladies with flowers: in this case horse chestnut which was flowering all over Gothenburg.

The last lady was in the park of the students association. Clearly she was a little sad of not being very well kept. But I did get a few flowers in her background as well.

"Vågens tjusning" (Charm of wave) was made by Per Hasselberg.
