Giant Floating Sea Creatures

"Taiteiden yö" or The Night of Arts is the popular event in the Helsinki Festival every August. This year the main show were the giant floating sea creatures by the French group Plasticiens Volants. Below a few photos from that evening in Helsinki. You'll find some more at my smugmug site.

New photo gallery @ Smugmug

I have been working on a new Photo Gallery over the weekend. The main benefit for me is that I can directly upload pictures with metadata from Aperture so it simplifies the workflow tremendously. But also Smugmug offers a lot of possibilities for customisation with limited coding experience. And it is a shop where you can buy prints, merchandise and downloads - even though it is a little irritating to have the prices in USD. Have a look at Erkki Photo's and let me know what you think. In the meantime I need to upload more pictures to the site.

Olen puuhannut uuden valokuvagallerian kanssa viikonloppuna. Suurin etu entisiin on se, että kuvat metadatoineen voi ladata suoraan Aperture ohjelmastani, jolloin kuvien lataamisen aiheuttama työ vähenee oleellisesti. Mutta Smugmug tarjoaa myös paljon mahdollisuuksia muokata sivuston ulkonäköä ja rakennetta ilman sen suurempaa kokemusta koodaamisesta. Galleria toimii myös kuvakauppana, tosin hiukan harmittavasti hinnat on esitettävä dollareina. Käykää katsomassa Erkin kuvat ja kommentoikaa. Sillä välin lataan sinne lisää kuvia.

Camargue

Arles

I had more time for photography in Arles where I spent the weekend before flying home through Nice on Sunday evening. I chose to go there because of Camargue - some pics from there in the next posting.

It happened to be parade day on Saturday. The ladies in traditional costumes are preparing to join in.

I was sitting in a restaurant at the Rond Point des Arenes beside the Amphitheatre. Dozens of people rode their Camargue horses past the point where I was having dinner and I had my camera on the table trying to shoot the passing horses and riders. This guy was a real showman riding back and forth on the street.
