Bribie Island

Ari Kallinen, who helps Finnish businesses to export into Australia, was kind enough to take me to Bribie Island on the coast north from Brisbane. He knew the place well having lived there earlier.

The east coast of Bribie Island is an endless beach where you can drive with 4 x 4 drives during low tide (you need a permit) even though most of the island is a National Park.

The beach is broken by lagoons: here Ari is checking the route.

An other driver is planning to drive lower down the stream.

The next lagoon where we take a swim.

I have to test this part of the Pacific jumping into the waves, but in this part of the world sharks are a real risk. Also strong currents can grab a swimmer out to the sea.
